Special Commissions
Interested in commissioning a custom work of art? This page walks you through the commission process—from initial inspiration and requirements to timelines, pricing, and what to consider before getting started. Whether you’re a collector, designer, or curator, we’ll help bring your vision to life with clarity and creativity.
Things to Consider When Commissioning a Custom Piece
When commissioning a work of art, you will want to consider:
-
The inspiration for your piece
-
The style you would like your piece created in (abstract, realistic, photography, painting, drawing, collage, etc.)
• The size and placement of the piece
• The color palette or mood you want to achieve
• Personal symbols, stories, or inspirations you'd like included
• Your budget and timeline

Pricing for Commissioned Pieces
The minimum order for a commission is $5,000 unless seeking a small piece, which would be considered on a case-by-case basis.
We MUST know your budget upfront, so we can know what to offer you and concepts.
All commissions require a 50% nonrefundable deposit and work will begin after understanding your vision clearly.
The artist will update you on progress, and show how the work is coming along in the event you have suggestions for change. Changes after 2 progress meetings will be afforded, for an additional fee.
Upon completion, you will be billed for the balance, and the Artist or Dealer will ship or transport your art for delivery
Timeline For a Commissioned Piece
The timeline can vary based on the complexity, size, and medium of the work. Typically, commissioned pieces can take anywhere
from 4 to 12 weeks. BBFA will keep you informed throughout the process.
Pieces may be completed sooner or for a rush fee
